A highly touristy destination, Elbow Falls lies within the Kananaskis Valley just beyond Bragg Creek. How to get there? From Bragg Creek, proceed to south to highway 66. Then westward until the Elbow River falls signage. If visiting between Dec 1 and May 15th, the parking lot to the falls is just before the road closure.
If travelling to Elbow Falls, expect a fair bit of people. Fortunately, we went at the end of April and early in the morning. We had the area relatively to ourselves and were able to scramble along the rocks near the falls. The water is certainly impressive with the majestically blue hue from the glacier melt. The falls are a short walk from the parking lot and railings guard the rocky outcroping that surround the area.
There are also several trails that extend beyond the falls, following the river valley for a few kilometres. The trails skirt close to the cliff edges, so caution is recommended.
